PINPER: Marcel Duchamp by David Simonetta
In the pilot issue of Flippeur magazine, figurative painter David Simonetta recounts his obsession with Marcel Duchamp, the "pope of contemporary art," who for a long time represented a figure of repulsion for him. That is, until he discovered Duchamp's writings and, above all, his life. Duchamp's work then took on a new meaning for him. In this interview, they discuss art, but also the cult of work, sentimental communism, war, sainthood, political engagement, and Cyril Hanouna.
The artist Dove Perspicacius, who illustrates this issue, offers a symbolically rich interpretation of the life of Marcel Duchamp.
Flippeur is a magazine of interviews. A personality recounts their current obsession in the moment. Like a pinball, it bounces and rebounds, bringing forth the most intimate, essential, and universal questions. A visual artist then joins the conversation and translates this obsession into images. Each issue is risograph printed at Quintal Atelier.
